Selling it as insulated wire is tempting. It is quick, the bin is empty, and nobody has spent a day cutting jackets with a knife. The tradeoff is that the yard's price reflects the insulation that is still there and the recovery work that has not been done.

The price of convenience
Sell the wire with the jacket on and the yard takes on the recovery work. The insulated wire price reflects that.
The catch is time. A better price is not very appealing if earning it means spending hours working through the pile by hand. So copper price alone cannot tell you whether stripping makes sense.
